Repairing ceilings and internal partitions

Ceiling and partition repairs can concern suspended tiles, grids, plasterboard or an internal partition. The affected construction needs to be considered with nearby doors, lighting, ventilation, alarms and hidden services.

A proposed layout change may involve more than the visible partition. Repeated stains or cracks also need their underlying condition understood before reinstatement is agreed.

• What is damaged, loose or unstable, or what change is proposed.
• Any known dimensions, board or tile type, glazing and finish.
• Occupancy, access arrangements and connected service requirements.

Explain which parts should remain and which need repair or replacement. Moving lighting, ventilation or alarm equipment is a separate scope consideration.
